What We Do How We Do It Who We've Helped
Powerset

The Challenge

Powerset had been operating in stealth mode for more than a year. Their natural language search technology was often spoke of in terms of the "Google-killer" and their upcoming unveiling was much anticipated in tech and investor circles. ZEN was engaged to help create a homepage experience that communicated their value proposition, clearly set expectations and showcased their technological innovations.

The Solution

Considering so much attention was being placed on the expected Powerset launch, it was very important to clearly articulate why Powerset was different and how their technology would change the face of search. ZEN worked directly with Product team leadership to craft a homepage experience that set expectations of what their product was to deliver. The design approach was specifically tailored to speak to both tech bloggers and investors, as well as general consumers who were interested in the type of technology Powerset offers. ZEN provided strategic guidance on how to best communicate their message to this diverse group of users, through extensive wireframe exploration and visual design comps. The final design was delivered and extended internally in the days before the launch.

Powerset's popularity skyrocketed immediately following their launch, and caught the eyes of some very large investors. In less than three months, Powerset was acquired by Microsoft for $100 million.
